ECNP appoints new chair SPC

We are glad to announce Andreas Reif as the new chair of the Scientific Programme Committee of the 32nd, 33rd and 34th ECNP Congresses. Andreas heads the department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at University Hospital Frankfurt, Germany.

His clinical interests cover the development of mental disorders across the lifespan, especially ADHD and mood disorders, including bipolar disorder. 

He holds several positions within the ECNP and also had a long and successful career at our organisation. “It is a great honour for me to have this opportunity and I am deeply flattered being chosen for this role. It was indeed a great pleasure and a great learning experience to be a part of the preparations of the last congress along with the current chair of the Scientific Programme Committee Astrid Linthorst,” says Andreas Reif. “The ECNP Congress is recognised as Europe’s very best and largest meeting in applied and translational neuroscience and I look forward to a great stint as the new chair of the Scientific Programme Committee.”

ECNP President and Secretary visit the office

We were happy to host ECNP President Celso Arango and Secretary Martien Kas at the ECNP office, in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on 20 February.

The ECNP staff had the opportunity to hear about the latest developments in the field and to discuss ECNP’s strategic direction in light of ongoing shifts in the science and economic environment.
Celso Arango also shared ideas with the ECNP Office about preparations for the upcoming 31st ECNP Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on 6-9 October 2018.

ECNP in Nice

ECNP participated in the 26th European Congress of Psychiatry (EPA) in Nice with an exhibition booth on 3-6 March 2018.

ECNP and EPA held a joint symposium on Sunday on the topic: Advancing psychiatric drug development through new approaches, chaired by ECNP President Celso Arango and EPA President Silvana Galderisi.
